Mark regularly speaks in schools and businesses, as well as national conferences, and runs seminars and workshops on stress, anxiety and depression.
He is a confident, articulate and passionate speaker on any topic to do with mental health. Thanks to his 17 years at the coalface of mental health, seeing nearly 3000 clients, he has genuine experience in how stress, anxiety and depression are created and how they are understood. He has some strong and sometimes controversial views on how these issues should be handled within all elements of society in the future, but particularly for schools, universities and businesses.
Mental health issues amongst students are rising rapidly, with a 116% rise in young people who talked about suicide during Childline (UK) sessions in 2013/14, compared to 2010/2011. What is more, 75% of mental health problems are established by age 24, and 50% by age 14.
In the workplace 70 million days are lost from work each year because of mental ill health, making it the leading cause of absence. In 2011 it cost UK employers approximately £2.4 billion per year to replace staff lost as a result of mental health problems. More than two thirds of senior executives believe their stress levels are higher today than five years ago.
In Mark’s talks, people learn a huge amount about how their mind works and from this understanding, they can see why they are not happy in their life and what they need to change to take control back over their lives.
It’s an over-used phrase these days, but Mark’s talks are life-changing…literally.
